Hardware Recommendations

This section describes the minimum recommended hardware for use with the OnSSI surveillance software product line. OnSSI software products, being non-proprietary, can operate on any Windows PC hardware from any manufacturer, as long as it complies with the minimum requirements as described below.

Please use the OnSSI Hardware & Storage Calculator to assess the hardware specifications as well as the type and amount of storage needed, based on the size and characteristics of your system.

Ocularis Base Server Software

Ocularis Base Server Software

CPU: Intel® Xeon®, (Dual Core or better recommended) or Intel® Core™ i5 or better (if running on a workstation)

RAM: Minimum 4 GB

Hard Drive: 500 GB or more for large systems utilizing extensive Video DB Bookmarking. If no bookmarking is being used, then 50 GB is sufficient.

Operating System: Windows® 7, Windows® Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008 (32-bit or 64-bit). 

Note: The Ocularis Base can be installed and deployed on any of the RC-E/C/I/P recorder machine(s) and does not require a dedicated server.

In the specifics case of OC-ES, the Ocularis Base and RC-E Management Server should be on either separate servers or separate Virtual Operating System’s.

RAM: Minimum 4 GB

Hard Disk Space: Minimum 100 GB free (depends on number of servers, cameras, rules, and logging settings); please refer to the OnSSI Hardware Calculator.

Operating System: Windows® Server 2003 (32 & 64 Bit), Windows®  Server 2008 (32 & 64 Bit) or Windows® 7 (32 & 64 Bit) (if running on a workstation)

Software: Microsoft .NET 4.0 Framework

RC-E Administration Client

CPU: Intel Core2 Duo (Similar or better)

RAM: Minimum of 2 GB

Operating System: Windows Vista Business, Ultimate, Enterprise (32 & 64 Bit), or Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise (32 & 64 Bit)

Graphics Adapter: PCI-Express, minimum 256 MB RAM, Direct 3D supported. 

Guidelines for Video RAM Requirements: 

20+ simultaneous Video Channels: 512 MB 

50+ simultaneous Video Channels: 1 GB
